This past Friday was what is called " Drei Heilige Könige" or something. When you put that with " Baden-Württemburg" what do you get? A long weekend! I live in the
bundesland of Baden-Württemburg which, along with Bayern ( or Bavaria), is pretty much the southern third of Germany. Something else about BW and Bavaria, is that we are two of the few "catholic" Bundeslände. This means that while the country is seen as Christian, we are also seen as catholic when it comes to public holidays. BW is one of the best states to live in in terms of Public holidays because we get the National holidays, the Christian ones ( ie Christmas days x2) and also the Catholic ones ( like Ascension and Epiphany... which is the Three Kings Day that we just had on friday). BW has the most public holidays of the year of any other state in Germany. Its great.
Anyway, my flatmate has her birthday today so we decided to celebrate last night. She came up with the idea of a Mocktail party ( like Cocktails but without alcohol) and so we ran with it. It turned out to be a great night with Cosmos, Hugos There?, Pina Colandas and our signature drink, 24 Again.

We all had a lot of fun making our own Mocktails and enjoying celebrating! A highlight for me was the fact that my mini pizzas turned out great as did the birthday cake - both first time trials and I was unsure about the end result of either! It was a great excuse to get a little dressed up and have fun with little umbrellas, frosted topped glasses and glow in the dark swizzle sticks! The whole evening reminded me yet again how much I like entertaining and opening my home to friends :) I just loved it!
