Challah - May Daring Bakers challenge

May’s Daring Bakers’ Challenge was pretty twisted – Ruth from The Crafts of Mommyhood challenged us to make challah! Using recipes from all over, and tips from “A Taste of Challah,” by Tamar Ansh, she encouraged us to bake beautifully braided breads.

I chose a Honey bread which was a lot like Hefezopf here in Germany. Very yummy fresh with a bit of extra honey... or toasted lightly a few days later. They were a lot bigger than I thought they would be! Big batch which I promptly froze.  Very good challenge!

Paris

I was in Paris for Easter. Here are some of the pictures recapping a great weekend :)

Notre Dame de Paris...the cherry trees were beautiful

Florida

While I wait for my pictures to arrive ( a problem when you dont take your camera places... you need to rely on other peoples pictures!) I will tell you about the middle section of my travels. The reason I went to the States was because of our Donor weekend. Last year it was in Asheville, North Carolina, this year it was beautifully placed on the sandy shores of Hillsboro Beach. It was a nice venue with a lot of character, the odd Racoon, several tennis courts and of course, huge turtles laying their eggs on the beach.
Main building at the venue

Our Team building activity was a savenger hunt

Dress-ups was an important part

...as was sandcastle making

Tiki Bar relaxation
It was a great weekend with a group of lovely people- some who are new to our work, and others who have known what we are about for a while. I was busy with work for the whole week we were down there, but being on the beach was definitely special, especially after being "stuck" in southern Germany for the past year and a half.

Mums

Well, I keep forgetting to bring my photos in to work.... so its slightly frustrating that I want to post a blog with pictures and dont have them! But in any case, I'll emerge from the silence and say a hello! I'll most likely end up doing the last 6 weeks in review over several posts...sorry about that but ... if only I had a brain.

I listen to Joy the Baker's podcast from time to time and she and Tracy have homework for listeners to do. Its normally supposed to go on Twitter or Instagram but seeing as I dont do either of those, I'm going to put it here instead.
This week's homework was Mother's Day themed. While I am not at home or anywhere near my mother,  I have a picture from the last time I saw her. The homework was to post a picture with your mum.

Heres me and my mum in Salzburg last year... It was a lovely vacation full of sun and summer skirts :)

This is me and my adopted mum, Charlotte. She's the one I spent Mothers day with this year. Her babies are spread all over the world including her Husband. It was nice to share it with my German mum!
