It was a rainy sort of day, especially since during the whole of November we had hardly had any rain... aparantly quite unusual for that time of year! And Janae and I had decided that we needed to get a tree. not a huge tree but a nice Christmas tree to make the apartment feel a bit Christmassy. In various German homes, the Christmas tree comes out at different times. Some going even as far as having the tree only fully decorated by surprise by the parents and the kids only allowed to see it fully decked out on the 24th December. Others only get their tree a few days before Christmas and then out it goes the first week of January.
This is completely different from my world view ( of course, worlds are different when the tree is artificial vs real!) where my sister and I usually put the tree up the first weekend in December! Also, Janae and I probably wont be in our apartment on Christmas itself, but spend it with our respective families :) So we thought, what a better time to go and get our tree than Friday night? Time was wasting away and december is moving rapidly on! So out we trudged to Kaufland and selected a modest sort of a tree. Its a very special feeling to get your own tree and feel rather grown up! ha ha. Saturday we "unwrapped" it and dressed it up with the meager decorations we had. Its a beautiful sort of a tree( although a bit spikey). i'm very proud of it.
